Job Description
The Tooling Technician is responsible for providing tooling and parts necessary to meet production standards and schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform work per work instructions
* Machine replacement, parts, and tooling per supplied blueprints
* Manual machining including mill, lathe, surface grinder
* Tooling and fixturing maintenance including removal from equipment and repair to working condition
* Complete purchase requisitions
* Order supplies as necessary for sharpening equipment.
* Operate and setup equipment to maintain specifications and independently adjust for variations
* Perform necessary functions to prepare work stations to meet requirements
* Perform preventative maintenance per requirements
* Use tool room equipment to sharpen various tools, drill bits, and cutters
* Welding, brazing and soldering and use of hand power tools to complete tasks
* Use tool room equipment to mill, drill, grind, bore, and taps to build, repair or modify tools or fixtures
* Adhere to all safety requirements in the work area
* Practice 5Ss
Knowledge, Skils and Abilities
* Understand and follow verbal and written instructions as well as drawings and blueprints
* College level math
* Use of appropriate inspection equipment
* Knowledge of applicable jigs, fixtures, index plates and grinding wheels
* Computer profiency
* Knowledge of cutting tools
Education and Experience Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 2 years Machine Shop Technical School or 2 years tool room experience
