The Senior Component Engineer will lead and collaborate with our global Engineering, Operations and
Sourcing teams to ensure overall optimal selection and use of Components within their responsible
commodities. You will be responsible for; leading the technical, performance, quality, application, road-mapping
assessment activities, and having extensive knowledge of the related Component/Supplier manufacturing &
process capabilities within your assigned commodities. Your target will be to become the Milwaukee Tool
Engineering comprehensive knowledge "center of excellence" for both the Components and Suppliers within
your commodities.
 
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
  • Provide candid, effective, clear, concise, and timely communications up, down and across the organization on
    progress, barrier removal and escalation of business risks/opportunities while driving appropriate actions
    based on priorities tradeoff.
  • Demonstrate Milwaukee Tool's culture of high performance and agility by independently creating Work
    Breakdown Structure for your work and driving to critical milestones.
  • Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that
    meet the organization's needs.
  • Serve as a role model Milwaukee Tool's culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior Engineers.
  • Interact with suppliers to develop Component specifications meeting performance requirements while falling
    within supplier process capabilities.
  • Review supplier, and joint design, Components with regards to compliance to regulatory standards such as
    UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.
  • Act as the primary Engineering interface to Marketing, Manufacturing, and Reliability/Quality departments on
    all Component issues related to your assigned Component commodity responsibilities.
  • Lead the investigation efforts in new Component technology planning, evaluation and application.
  • Develop and maintain the Component/Supplier technology roadmaps for the organization
  • Develop Component standardization strategies for cost reduction and worldwide sourcing.
  • Be a leading contributor to the Milwaukee Tool supplier management process and commodity management
    strategy.
  • Develop and/or modify new and existing assessment criteria for supplier and Component qualification and
    quality improvement processes.
  • Lead Component co-design and redesign efforts with Component suppliers on a regular basis.* Assist in organizing and evaluating Milwaukee Tool supplier and Component data for use in objective supplier
    evaluations, qualification and selection process.
  • Direct or supervise technicians, as needed, to carry out the detailed activities associated with Component
    qualification, failure analysis, and supplier evaluation activities.
  • Responsible for working with suppliers to provide technical solutions to the suppliers, and Milwaukee Tool,
    process and manufacturing issues.
  • Become knowledgeable in the manufacturing process and process controls used to produce the Components
    used by Milwaukee Tool.
  • Become skilled in evaluating supplier facilities, processes, and systems to judge supplier ability to produce a
    product meeting with Milwaukee Tool performance and quality requirements.
  • Recognized as a Milwaukee Tool wide expert resource for Component application and technology, for their
    responsible Component commodities.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of the suppliers manufacturing processes and how to best utilize them for
    the highest yield and lowest cost Components, along with new applications for their capabilities.
  • Shall be knowledgeable of most potential Quality issues that could affect the supplier and Component.
  •  Responsible for complete documentation of all qualification projects, supplier contacts, failure analysis, and
    proper document retention per all company and ISO requirements.
  • Thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct and recognizes
    the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience working with component suppliers and their technology, including selection,
    testing and qualification in either Component Engineering or Design Engineering roles.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Material Science.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and failure analysis skills, with the ability to view issues systemically for driving
    design or Component related solutions for a variety of failure modes.
  • Ability to research root cause failure analysis after all obvious ideas are exhausted.
  • Experience in circuit design troubleshooting, along with PCBA process related failure related issues.
  • Ability to travel 10%+ of the time (domestic and international).
