Job Description

The Electrical Engineer II -- Motors position will design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot motors for mid to high-level complexity projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot motors for mid to high-level complexity projects.  
  • Communicate status updates to other teams and mid-level management. 
  • Apply a platform use approach to all new designs, gathering and implementing design considerations for use in multiple product categories. 
  • Conduct experiments, perform simulations, and draw concise, logical conclusions by analyzing data. 
  • Root cause analysis on failures. 
  • Technical preparation of products for mass production. 
  • Provide technical guidance to entry level engineers.  
  • Work with and establish trusting relationships with the Global Engineering and Operations team.  
  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and data acquisition systems. 
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews as an independent reviewer.  
  • Work with component suppliers and manufacturers for proper component selection on existing projects. 
  • Identify tradeoffs and solutions to problems and strive to resolve quickly in a high urgency environment. 
  • Design and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE and ANSI. 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

Required

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field. 
  • 2+ years of experience in related design field. 
  • Familiarity with FEA and/or CAD
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time (5% domestic and 5% international). 

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field. 
  • Proficient in FEA and/or CAD.
